Namiseom Island
The construction of the Cheongpyeong Dam result on what we call it as Namiseom Island. It is a half moon shaped (462,809m2) isle. Namiseom Island name taken from the General Nami, who led their troopers to win the battles against the rebels in the 13th year of the 7th king of Joseon Dynasty, King Sejo.
Namiseom Island is located in 63 km away from Seoul in the direction of Chuncheon. It is famous for its fascinating tree lined roads. You can take bus or drive a car from Chuncheon and it takes about 30 minutes away on the road. Since it is not so far from Seoul, many couples and families spend would like to spend their weekend by coming to visit.
A focal point of Namiseom Island that you need to highlight is that there are no telephone poles. It is because all of the electric wires were installed underground to keep the natural nuances of the landscape. The 553,560 square yards with chestnut trees and poplar trees around the isle makes it as one of the best place in the world to explore. The Namiseom Island promotes such education and training facilities, swimming pools, water sports facilities, and camping sites. There is also a theme park with merry go rounds play, shooting range, roller ice skating, and some lodging facilities like bungalows and resort villas.
