The name, Chiufen means nine portions in Mandarin. Taipei County Government clarifies that there were only nince families lived in the area during the Ching Dynasty. Due to the lack of resources, whenever one of the nine families members went to the market and purchase some goods, they would purchase about nine portions. That is how Chiufen name is earned.

Such facilities like Environmental building, Crown Prince Chalet, Museum of Gold, Gold refining building, and benshan fifth tunnel. You could take a walk to the area through Benshan Fifth Tunnel to track back what happened in the old days.
