Chiufen Old Street in Taiwan

If you are about to go to Taiwan, you must include the Chiufen Old Street as one of your destinations. Located in Rueifang District of New Taipei City, Chiufen Old Street used to be the center of gold mining in Taiwan. With such incredible landscape, the scenic spots, Chiufen Old Street is surrounded by mountains and facing directly to the sea. It offers such nice view of Mist Sea that creates romantic nuances so that it is the perfect place for all couples all over the world. The tourism in Chiufen Old Street has been rising and I would like to recommend it to you.

The name, Chiufen means nine portions in Mandarin. Taipei County Government clarifies that there were only nince families lived in the area during the Ching Dynasty. Due to the lack of resources, whenever one of the nine families members went to the market and purchase some goods, they would purchase about nine portions. That is how Chiufen name is earned.

This is such nice place to enjoy with your family. Today, Chiufen Old Street promotes the historical sites of Japanese styled architectures. Besides, it also offers some deli local snacks and unique traditional stores. Have you ever enjoyed sweet taro balls made by tapioca starch and taro from Chiufen Old Street? Other unique dishes you must try are rice cake with Chinese herbs, Red vinasse, and many others. With such fascinating mountain and sea views, it is a great place to accompany your tea time with lover and family.
Other outstanding site that I would like to share is the Gold Ecological Museum. The museum offers nice histories of gold mining industry in the area. Such facilities like Environmental building, Crown Prince Chalet, Museum of Gold, Gold refining building, and benshan fifth tunnel. You could take a walk to the area through Benshan Fifth Tunnel to track back what happened in the old days.
