A- Ma Temple








If you do like history and heritage, and you are visiting Macau, it is wise idea to spare your time to visit A-ma Temple. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in Macau. Situated in the nearly south east of Macau, the temple is created for the sake of A-Ma, the Mother and Queen of the Sea. If you have not heard about the legend of A-Ma before, you can be sure that the goddess is beautiful. Well, there are a lot of stories about A-ma. One of the most popular is that she was beautiful young girl from Fujian province. She saved a big ship from sinking on the route to Guangzhou. It is said her blessing that did the great rescue. The temple was built for her dedication.



Some parts of the A-ma Temple are more than 600 years old age. They were constructed before the arrival of the Portuguese. These days, this temple is the most attractive eyesight you can enjoy since it has the complex parts like prayer halls, pavilions, gardens, and shrines. It is a fascinating and eye catching working temple. During the festival of A-ma Temple that is held between April and May, this will become the popular place of pilgrimage. When you come in Chinese New Year time, it is crowded and you will see full of firecrackers beautifying the sky.
