Leifeng Pagoda
West Lake, Hangzhou spots top attractions around the city. One of them is Leifeng Pagoda. It is one of the best West Lake attractions and you need to watch it. Before arriving in Hangzhou, it is better to have a spare time to visit Leifeng Pagoda in advance.
This historical building is built in 975 by the last king of Wuyuem, Qian Chu who was a devoted Buddhist. Unfortunately, the pagoda was seriously injured by war in 1120 and was partially destroyed. All that was left is the brick skeleton. That was sad since there was no reconstruction plan until 2002. The current pagoda was built on the ruins of the original pagoda.
The Leifeng Pagoda is very important historical place for Buddhist and is still used by Buddhists for worshipping.
When you reach the grounds, just go to the left part and you can have a great walk there and an incredible scenery to watch. Most visitors might want to use escalator to go straight up to the pagoda. However, it is always nice to spend your valuable time by walking.
