Fo Guang Shan Monastery Taiwan



Fo Guang Shan Monastery is the biggest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan that is located in Ta Shu of Kaohsiung City. With the name literally means “Buddha’s Light Mountain”, it was founded in 1967 by the Venerable Master in promoting Humanistic Buddhism. Fo Guang Shan Monastery covers an area more than 30 hectares comprised of university buildings, a cemetery, and the shrines at the first place. Later in 1975 and 1981, the 36 meter tall state of Amitabha Buddha and the Great Hero Hall were built. During the times, there are over 200 Fo Guang Shan Branch Temples that were built.
