The Colosseum is perhaps the most attractive building of the Roman Empire. It is originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater. It was the largest building of the era. The monumental structure has fallen into ruin. However, it always give the beautiful sight to the visitors.

The Colosseum is able to accommodate about 55 thousands audiences who enter through 80 entrances.

Other thing that makes Colosseum marvelous is that it was covered with such enormous awning known as velarium. It protected the audiences from the sun exposure.

The game of death held by Roman Empire spended the whole day or even several days in a row. They usually started with animals attraction acts and displays of exotic animals and ended it with fights to death between animals and gladiator or between gladiators. The figthers were usually slaves, prisoner of war or condemned criminals. Sometimes free Romans and even emperors gave their performance also.

In the 80 AD, about hundred day games were held by Titus. He had made about 9,000 animals were slaughtered.
